St. Patrick's Day 2012

It was such a humid day on St. Patrick's Day. I remember I had the a/c down to 74 degrees and it still felt somewhat warm. We invited Jacob's parents over. It's obviously more fun spending holidays with family.

I've always liked celebrating every holiday. I enjoy decorating even though I decorate in my own subtle way ... plus I believe it's a good thing to introduce and educate my children about holidays that are also celebrated in different countries ... the ones that I personally like.

My mother-in-law {Grace, yes we have the same name} with Sydna and Nathan snacking on chips and dip. So addicting!

Riley didn't care much about eating kiwi ... it WAS sweet. I even had a bite and thought it was very good.

He had a bit of a meltdown. Not about the kiwi. I'm sure it was about something that we didn't let him do {can't quite remember now}.

Ok, I know that when you celebrate St. Patrick's Day you're suppose to cook up an Irish meal but it would have really been a waste of time and food if we had made Reuben Strata. The kids wouldn't have want to eat it ... nor I or even my mother-in-law. The only ones that would have enjoyed it would have been Jacob and my father-in-law. SO we made pasta {lol}. We stuck to the color green though. We had chicken alfredo with spinach fettuccine. We haven't had spinach fettuccine before and I liked it, we all did. It was very tasty.

After we ate and cleaned up the kitchen we went outside. Surprisingly the humidity was gone by mid afternoon ... it was a relief. Jacob and the kids were playing football. Grace {my mother in law} kept saying that she was cold, it really wasn't ... it was cool and breezy just the way I like it. We let Riley roam free. There was 1:6 ratio {plenty of adults and siblings to look out for the little guy} ...  so Riley was safe to walk around on the street and enjoy himself.

It stresses me out how Riley doesn't measure danger. He kept walking up the curb with haste and there was several times where I thought he would fall. So nervewracking.

Jacob had to walk along side of him as he ventured up the street.

Riley really liked walking beside big brother ... made him feel big.

My father-in-law Gerry and Jacob playing football with Nathan. They were taking turns catching and throwing the football.

Riley enjoyed walking up and down the street but during one of those times where he wanted to run he tripped and fell and got his 1st scabbed knee. After that we put him in his stroller so he could watch daddy from a comfortable spot and to avoid any more boo boos.

LOL! It looks like all three of them were dancing ... but they were not. Nathan missed the football and Gerry was sprinting towards it to catch it. Not sure what Jacob was doing.

After the boys played for a while it was time to head back inside for some sweetness.
Jacob's mom brought some delicious Blue Bell Pistachio Almond ice cream. It was sooo good too.I love Blue Bell ice cream! Riley got a whole cupcake all to himself. He doesn't really care for them much right now. He'll eat a little bit of the frosting, like five pokes then he pushes it away.

We ended our day watching a couple of movies... we just LOVE to watch movies here. We enjoy having gatherings. I'm looking forward to when we finally move back home {San Diego} and have family and friends over for not only holidays but for no reason at all ... cookouts are always fun and yummy.

Riley Wore His Green

On St. Patrick's Day ...
Actually all three kids and Jacob wore green. I may have been the only one
not wearing green now that I recall.
We don't go out and celebrate we just wear our green so we don't get pinched.

Looking cute however Sydna, Nathan and sometimes Jacob feel bad for Riley about having him wear such things. I think festive/holiday bibs, shirts and whatnot are cute besides I have to make sure to take note of the days celebration. I do must admit this bib seems a bit big but he looks cute nontheless.

Jacob home from work.

♥ My Lucky Charm ball of cuteness♥

What a good sport ... he smiled for Mommy.
