A Sunday Outing to Whatcom Falls

9.27.2020

We headed North to Whatcom Falls in Billingham.

It is a 241-acre park with four sets of waterfalls and several miles of well-maintained walking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and a trout hatchery.

I like the moss that grows on trees and concrete here in the PNW. It looks pretty to me.

It really wasn't crowded. I do remember a few people looking at us because we weren't wearing masks. It honestly didn't make any sense to wear one outdoors especially when one is out in nature. The air is constantly being purified by the trees.

Deepening our emotional ties to nature is as vital to our well-being as the close personal bonds we pursue with family and friends.

We took a trail that was closer to the water. It was so peaceful and enjoyable just hearing the sound of rushing water.

I can just smell this scene. Pine smell, decaying leaves and wet earth ... so fresh and pure.

Afterwards we stopped along Bellingham Bay for a bit.

Each of us is a steward of the days allotted for our lifetime, and learning to manage our commitments and priorities is critical. This is why doing things as a family while enjoying an outing is very important to me. Anything can become a life learning experience. We create memories and bonds become stronger.

This kid. I don't know how he can be comfortable laying down on rocks. He's funny.
I am constantly drawn to water. Luckily in Washington state there's an abundance of things to do. No matter where you are along the water you're guaranteed beautiful views. Happiness consists in activity --it is a running stream, not a stagnant pool.

We had lunch then called it a day.
